National Recovery Plan

The draft National Plan for the Forty-spotted Pardalote developed by the National Recovery Team with input from key stakeholders, builds on years of previous work to ensure the survival of this important species. Finalised in 2023, the recovery plan is set to be approved in late 2024.

The plan relies on volunteer community effort, research expertise and secure protection of habitat, underpinned by long-term monitoring to determine populationtrends. It is only through philanthropic support that most of this work is possible.

Key Strategies

  • Implement management strategies to reduce known threats to the Forty-spotted Pardalote and its habitat.

  • Increase the number and viability of Forty-spotted Pardalote subpopulations through translocation and supplementation techniques.

  • Improve protection and increase the quality, extent, and connectivity of known and potential habitat for the Forty-spotted Pardalote.

  • Improve knowledge of the biology and ecology of the Forty-spotted Pardalote and maintain a long-term monitoring strategy to identify population trends.

  • Increase stakeholder participation in Forty-spotted Pardalote conservation and management.
