Meet the Research Sub-Committee
The Research Sub-Committee works in collaboration with other local experts on Bruny Island, Maria Island and Flinders Island. The project is publicly administered by Birdlife Australia and supported by funding from the Elsie Cameron Foundation. Our work is guided by the national Forty-spotted Pardalote Recovery team which executes the objectives of the Forty-spotted Pardalote Recovery Plan.

Dr Sally Bryant (Chair)
Species specialist with 30 years’ experience with ecological studies of woodland birds, particularly the Forty-spotted Pardalote. Chair of the Forty-spotted Pardalote Recovery Team.

Dr Barry Baker
Conservation biology and population ecologist with 40 years’ experience dealing with various aspects of wildlife management and ecology, particularly birds.

Dr Keith Reid
Quantitative ecologist specialising in statistical advice, data analysis and population assessments.

Dr Geoff While
Behavioural and evolutionary ecologist at the University of Tasmania. Geoff’s research combines long-term observational studies with targeted experimental approaches to uncover the ecological and evolutionary drivers of behaviour.

Dr Andrew Hingston
Andrew Hingston is an Adjunct Researcher at UTAS, manager of the Threatened Woodland Birds of Bruny Island project, guide with Inala Nature Tours, and consultant ornithologist.

Alan Wilshire
30 years experience in conducting and assisting with research from the sub-antarctic islands to central Australia. In Tasmania has been involved with foundational research and long-term monitoring of species such as Swift Parrots and Forty-spotted Pardalotes,
Our aim.
Deliver key actions under the Forty-spotted Pardalote National Recovery Plan 2024. This includes updating the species population assessment, delivering long-term monitoring, providing centralised access to publications and information and providing important updates on progress made.
